The Best New Abilities in the Horizon Forbidden West Burning Shores DLC

The first DLC for Horizon Forbidden West, Burning Shores, is now available. This DLC takes Aloy to the burning shores of Los Angeles with a new story. The Burning Shores DLC adds a new trophy list, outfits, weapons, a new level cap, and new endgame abilities. These new skills are very powerful and there are multiple for each skill tree. Here are the best new Skills in the Horizon Forbidden West Burning Shores DLC.

The best new abilities to get to Burning Shores early

For each of the six skill trees, two new abilities and one new Valor Surge were added to the DLC. Since these skills are at the bottom of the skill trees, you need to purchase all the previous skills required to unlock them. The best new skills are:

• (Hunter) slider orientation: Reduces time and quickly draws your weapon when aiming during a glide.
• (Warrior) elemental spear: Deal elemental damage with your spear by attaching elemental capsules from your hunter kit.
• (Survivor) shield fall: Gain the ability to craft and deploy Drop Shields.

All New Abilities In Horizon Forbidden West Burning Shores DLC

warrior skills

• Warrior’s Instinct: Increases your awareness of debuffed enemies and their knockdown duration.
• Elemental Spear – Deal elemental damage with your spear by attaching elemental pods from your hunter kit.
• (Surge of Courage) Warrior’s Vigor: Strengthen your resolve and do more damage with your spear and Warrior Bords. Gain health from damage dealt with any type of weapon.

trapper skills

• Smoke Bomb Heal: Gradually recover health while inside a smoke bomb cloud.
• Ropecaster Expert – When a machine recovers from the tethered state, it shoots another rope and instantly tethers it again for a brief period. Can be performed once per target.
• (Valor Surge) Trap Mines – Powered by a special mode on your Focus, equip a throwable mine that splits into multiple booby traps upon impact with the environment.

hunter skills

• Aiming Slide: Slows down time and quickly draws your weapon when aiming during a slide.
• Machine Grapple Strike – Gain the ability to grapple attack machines.
• (Valor Surge) Hunter’s Mark – Powered by a special mode on your Focus, your next few shots with any Hunter’s Bow will mark your targets. Marked targets have an increased chance to take critical hit damage. Destroys a target’s components to cause an explosion that deals additional damage.

survivor skills

• Low Health Stamina: Recovers weapon stamina faster when in critical health (below 25% health).
• Shield Drop – Gain the ability to create and deploy Drop Shields.
• (Surge of Courage) Death Defies: Consume a special potion to deal more damage and gain a second chance while reducing your maximum health to critical health levels. When Valor Surge ends, restore health up to critical health thresholds.

Infiltrator Abilities

• Sharpshot Expert: Sharpshot Bows is less inaccurate when walking or crouching.
• Stealthy Resonator – Silent strikes build up resonator energy faster and deal more damage when your spear is fully charged.
• (Valor Surge) Berserk Blast – Attaches a special module to your spear and immediately fires a powerful blast that causes all nearby enemies to go Berserk.

Machine Master Skills

• Flying Grapple Launch – Gain the ability to grab the launch from flying mounts.
• Resonator Recharge: Nullifying a machine instantly energizes your spear for a resonator blast.
• (Valor Surge) Override Overdrive: Powered by a special mode on their Focus, all Overridden Machines arc electricity at nearby enemies, dealing increased damage, taking damage over time, and exploding on death.
