The Legend of Zelda is one of the most iconic and well-known series in video games. This Nintendo franchise centers on Link, Zelda, and Ganondorf, who represent the three aspects of the Triforce. However, some unsung heroes appear throughout the series, becoming Link’s companions as he embarks on each adventure. With numerous companions in The Legend of Zelda, we’ve listed and ranked some of our favorites below.

    6. Champions of Hyrule

The Champions of Hyrule were Link’s best companions in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. They were Mipha, Urbosa, Revali, and Daruk, who represented the great races of Hyrule. All four died before the events of Breath of the Wild, but left their ancestors behind and gave Link the ability to use his unique abilities. While their support isn’t exactly that of the company, they were instrumental in helping Link control the Divine Beasts and defeat Ganon.

Are the champions in The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom?

We have official confirmation that the ancestors of the Champions appear in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. This includes Sidon, Riju, Yunobo, and Teba. We see the four of them fighting alongside Link and helping more than in Breath of the Wild. We also get glimpses of the champions’ powers, specifically with Riju using Urbosa’s lightning.

    5. King of the Red Lions

The King of the Red Lions is Link’s companion and ship in The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker. He is Link’s traveling companion and the main way to cross the ocean. The King of the Red Lions appears as a normal talking ship, but players soon discover that this is not the whole story. Without going into spoilers, The King of the Red Lions is an integral part of Hyrule’s history.

Is the King of the Red Lions in The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom?

This is highly unlikely. Since Tears of the Kingdom doesn’t focus as much on water, and even then, any boat Link uses is a mere raft or fused. Also, the spoiler above guarantees that this character will not appear. So fans of this fellow Wind Waker will have to replay that title if they want more King of the Red Lions.

Fi is Link’s partner in The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. Fi immediately became a nuisance to Zelda fans, myself included, as he constantly interrupted the story and flowed with unnecessary info-dumps. This has been slightly fixed in the new version of Skyward Sword. Despite this, Fi’s story unfolds throughout the game and expands his character as he becomes more central to Link’s success.

Is Fi in The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom?

Many fans may be wondering if Fi will reappear in Tears of the Kingdom due to the prominence of the sky islands. There has been no confirmation that Fi will appear, but it is possible. We see the Master Sword take damage in the game, and even though Fi is the spirit of the Sword of the Goddess, Link can turn this weapon into the Master Sword and use Fi to do so.

    3. Navigation

Navi is a fairy and is Link’s partner in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. She is responsible for the iconic “Hey, listen!” and although many fans find her annoying, I think she’s charming. Navi begins Link’s journey, awakening him under the Deku Tree’s command and staying with him throughout the game. She also makes a cameo appearance in Majora’s Mask, making her one of the few recurring companions of hers.

Is Navi in The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom?

It is highly unlikely that Navi will appear in Tears of the Kingdom. She served the Hero of Time version of Link, and Link in Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom is a different incarnation. While we’d love to see Navi return, I’m afraid we Zelda fans will have to dust off a different Nintendo console to see Navi again.

    2.epona

Calling Epona a partner might be a stretch, but I think she deserves this title and a place on this list. Epona is Link’s horse throughout various Zelda titles and serves him faithfully. Epona is also the most iconic horse in the series, and since she was a child, she has held a special place in my heart. Meeting Epona at the Lon Lon ranch as a young Link in Ocarina of Time solidified

Is Epona in The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom?

While not officially confirmed, Epona is almost certainly in Tears of the Kingdom. Nintendo hasn’t said this directly, but we clearly see a horse that looks like Epona. Epona can only be obtained by scanning an amiibo in Breath of the Wild, but hopefully, she can be found naturally in the sequel.

    1. midna

Midna is by far the best companion in The Legend of Zelda series, narrowly beating out Epona for me. Midna is Link’s partner in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and hails from the Twilight Realm. Zant took her true form from her, and Link helps her get it back while she helps him get her back into her human form. Midna serves not only as a companion but also as a source of vital information and an ally in combat.

Is Midna in The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom?

It’s unlikely that Midna will appear in Tears of the Kingdom, but it’s not impossible. There are some designs that look like Twilight Princess throughout the game, and some of the sounds seem very Twilight Realm. That being said, we haven’t seen any direct evidence of Minda or the Twilight people being in the game. Midna would certainly be a welcome addition, and I’d love to see her story continue.
