The Adventures Continue Launches Season 3 in 2023

The continuation of the DC comic Batman: The Animated Series is officially scheduled to return for season 3 early next year.


The Burbank-based publisher has announced that Batman: The Adventures Continue Season 3 Issue #1 will hit comic shops on Tuesday, January 10, 2023. Writing duo Alan Burnett and Paul Dini return to pen the series, with Jordan Gibson serving as artist. (Gibson previously penciled and inked an edition of Batman: The Adventures Continue Season 2.) The next first number of third season it also features main cover by Kevin Nowlan, who also provides variant cover. Other variants come from Kelley Jones, Steve Beach and Hayden Sherman.

The New Batman Adventures

Batman: The Adventures Continue initially released in April 2020 as a digital first comic series serving as a continuation of the beloved 1992-1995 television show Batman: The Animated Series and its follow-up 1997-1999, The New Batman Adventures. the adventures continue is written by Dini and Burnett, who served as writers on Batman: The Animated Series. The first season of the adventures continue was published in 17 digital chapters from April 1, 2020 to December 31, 2020. These chapters were collected into eight print issues, which were published from June 10, 2020 to January 27, 2021, with a trade paperback finally arriving in June 2021. The entirety of the first season was illustrated by Ty Templeton. Templeton also illustrated the first two issues of the second season. Earlier this month, Templeton announced that, as of October 13, 2022, he is cancer-free after a 17-month treatment process.

In Templeton’s absence, Rick Burchett illustrated the third issue of Batman: The Adventures Continue Season 2, with the aforementioned number 4 of Gibson’s drawings. Burchett then redrew in pen and ink the last three issues of the second season.
