Top Gun: Maverick breaks its opening weekend, with all of its global and domestic records.
Paramount+ revealed that Top Gun: Maverick broke the record with the most watched movie on the streaming platform on the weekend. The movie is expected to break US national viewership records, as well.
The Top Gun sequel surpassed the previous record in Sonic the Hedgehog two by over 60 percent. I believe it’s a good example of making franchise films on the streaming platform by 140%.
The sequel did not have any significant competition on its debut weekend. Paramount+ made a number of moviebooks for its library including the horror movie Smile and the romantic comedy The Lost City with Channing Tatum and Sandra Bullock.
The top-gun sequel has 400% more viewers than its original in 1986 when it became available for streaming.
The viewership record might have also been helped by Paramount+ offering a 50% discount on subscriptions to the streaming platform. The limited time offer may be availed until Jan. 2.
Brian Robbins told the television station that Tom has become successful.
“The runaway success of this film from theatre to digital and now in streaming is an unbelievable proof point demonstrating the power of Paramounts multiplatform release strategy,” Robbins said. James Camerons Avatar sequel recently broke the $1 billion mark at the box office. The movie did it just two weeks after its international release. The view from The Way of Water narrows the gap, but it will take the miracle to dislodge Top Gun: Maverick from the top spot.

Big Gun: Maverick made two Golden Globe nominations for best original song and best drama. The film was selected by AFI, too, as one of the 10 Best Movies of 2022. The National Board of Review, as well as the best film for 2022, recognized the movie as the best movie.
Tom cruise was named for best actor in Critics Choice Awards, while the movie was named for best film.
