Steam has arrived in 2023, or at least that’s what it seems based on a new milestone, reached by the online gaming platform.

In the tweet made by the official Steam Database Twitter on Jan. 7, it was revealed that Steam had surpassed 32 million concurrent online users, setting a new all-time record for concurrent users seen in a single day. The total includes all active users signed on, purchase and play games on the platform or the active user.

This came together with a broken record for in-game players, who used the platform for the first time on the same day to surpass 10 million with 10.080,000. Only those who play games via Steam often can find this number better than those who use it for their primary purpose.

Steam Database also released a graph showing Steams activity on and around the date in question, which can be seen below.

Only a few months after the major milestone, which was 30 million concurrent users in October in 2022, came to an end. It comes as Steam continues to grow consistently year after year. Although the platform took 5 years to reach 10 million active users to 20 million, it only took 1 – 6 years to regain the ability to reach 30 million other users.

It seems likely to be continuing this trend, the amount of data needed to reach the 40 million goals to be achieved resulting from the acquisition of one fifth of users.
