The Sims team took to Twitter today to announce their development plan for the foreseeable future. The roadmap, titled Everything is relativewill be expanded upon during the next community stream on January 31. In the meantime, here’s everything we know about what the team has up their sleeves.

    Sims 4 San Sequoia Roadmap

We know for a fact that The Sims is planning a major update for early 2023. In addition to bug fixes, this update will mainly focus on improving the infant life stage so that babies are no longer decorations that need occasional interaction.

The roadmap itself is designed to resemble a family tree, which has led many fans of the franchise to speculate that all upcoming releases will revolve around enhanced family dynamics. Elements like kids who can ride bikes and babies who can move independently of an older sim have been absent from the game since its initial release in 2014. While EA has yet to confirm this, Simmers are hopeful that the expansion pack hinted to be similar to Sims 3 Generations, which added substantial gameplay mechanics for both young and old children.

The icons used for the two kits are a pair of underwear and toothpaste. The Sims team hasn’t made any announcements about what these two kits will be, but the iconography has led players to believe that these kits will add more clutter and interactions around daily life and hygiene. For the most part, the sims and their houses are self-cleaning and require much less maintenance than previous iterations of the game. These kits have the potential to add elements from The Sims 1 to The Sims 3 that players have been missing in The Sims 4.

It looks like each item on the roadmap was revealed sequentially, so as it stands, we can expect to get the game’s main update first, then the two new kits before finally receiving the mystery expansion pack sometime in 2023.
