In just a few short weeks, Star Wars Jedi Survivor will finally be upon us. For those of us who played the previous game, Star Jedi Fallen Order, the anticipation couldn’t be higher. However, if you’ve never played Fallen Order and are wondering if you should before playing Jedi Survivor, we can answer that. Here’s whether or not you should play Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order before Jedi Survivor.
Is Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order Before Jedi Survivor worth playing?
As Jedi Survivor serves as a direct sequel to Jedi Fallen Order, we strongly recommend you to play Jedi Fallen Order, the prequel game in the series, first. There are a number of reasons for this. First of all, Jedi Survivor takes place five years after the events of Jedi Fallen Order. This means that many characters and general plot points in Jedi Survivor will be a total mystery to you if you haven’t played Jedi Fallen Order.

The main character of both games, Cal Kestis, goes through a number of major trials and tribulations throughout Jedi Fallen Order that will likely play a role in Jedi Survivor. As mentioned, Jedi Survivor also takes place five years after the events of Jedi Fallen Order, and just from the media coverage of the sequel, we can see that Cal Kestis has clearly aged and matured to some degree. Jedi Fallen Order’s Cal Kestis looks much more youthful compared to the version of him in the sequel. This makes sense considering what happens to him in Jedi Fallen Order.
Also, while the gameplay has been greatly expanded in Jedi Survivor, its core roots can already be enjoyed in Jedi Fallen Order. Gamers who played Jedi Fallen Order will feel right at home despite the expanded scope of the Jedi Survivor game it seems to offer. On the other hand, if you’ve never played Jedi Fallen Order, you might find Jedi Survivor a bit daunting, as it has a hint of Dark Souls coloring.
When is Star Wars Jedi Survivor released?
Star Wars Jedi Survivor will be released on April 27 after a short delay. All modern platforms, PC, XBOX Series, and PS5, will get the game at the same time. It is currently unknown if the Nintendo Switch will receive the game, but it is not scheduled at this time. If that changes, we’ll let you know.
