Reshaping Mars Beginners Guide + Achievements

so i hadnt the faintest clue with this game starting out, and it took me several runs to get the gist of how to get me a successful colony going. just thought i’d share with everyone here!

the guide:

Introduction:

cool infodump from my experimenting: will add more as i figure more out!

types of cities

-alloy plant “industrial zone” (min10 refineries)

-civvie goods plant “the wagie cagie” (min10 offices)

-mat harvesting site “martian quarry” (for an area around lots of resource collectors)

-research hub “nerd zone” (6+funny balls, try to base it near observatories)

-tourism city “gamerocracy” (lots of gyms and game centers, send other cities here to boost mood with the visit civic)

-military bastion “blitz spam choke point” (alloy, but with engie and military production plants, as well as a 2 layer turret wall)

-launch complex “the welcome nexus” (5+shuttle bases, useful for missions with lots of satellites or getting orbital networks running)

what you want in every city

-3-4 housing units (make 2 or more of them sky gardens later, let the last stay a small shack for killing off extras)

-1-2 clinic/hospital, self explanitory (2 if you have 3 sky gardens)

-1 GAMER ZONE

-1 FITNESS ZONE

-3 turrets near borders

-administration office (they force it on you)

-1 shuttle pad (useful for bringing in city specific pops)

-1 food processing plant (more on this)

FOOD PROCESSING PLANT AND HOW TO FULLY STOCK IT

-IT ONLY HAS 30 SLOTS AND THERE ARE 8 FOODS

-THEY DON’T GET USED AND EVERYONE GETS A HAPPINESS BONUS BASED ON VARIETY

DO IT LIKE THIS;

-5 protein bars

-5 potato bread (10)

-5 tomato puffs (15)

-x3 of each energy boost for a total of 9 (the salt tea, jerky, other thing)(24)

-x3 of the two leftover foods (30 exactly)

PERFECTLY BALANCED FOR HEALTH AND HAPPINESS

WORK SYNERGIES

-THE ADMIN HALL BOOSTS EVERYTHING

-THE CLINIC AND FOOD PROCESSOR WILL BOOST ADJACENT HOMES

-ALLOY REFINES LIKE MINERAL AND WATER

-CIVVIE REFINES LIKE MINES

-RESEARCH HUBS LIKE EACH OTHER, OBSERVATORIES, AND ELEC

-no idea with shuttle bases yet

other factions

-united terra

— starting faction, will completely crumble after the war against the conglomerate

–if you choose to support them, conglomerate forces WILL attack you and their refugees will fight you to the death

-conglomerate

–arms manufacturer, likely the first first “antagonist” faction you will se

–if you choose to support them, they will not attack you but ask for rockets loaded with minerals to show aid

—if you show aid, they will continue to not attack, however they will ultimately lose the war on earth

—if you don’t show aid, you will get attacked by them after they claim victory on earth

-machine network

–made from putting drones in mines

–will eventually ask you to leave the planet, giving you a 2000 day timer before and attack

–if you bring a lot of forces near their base, they will see it as a sign of aggression, and attack

–you can in fact befriend and annex them, however this can only occur after they declare war.

-west york

–replaces united terra on comms

–will ask you to sell out a spy

—should you choose not to, they -will- launch a nuke, letting it hit your colony will grant and an achievement

—no idea what happens if you sell him out

-the ayylmaos

–appear after a certain point in terraforming

–ever seen starship troopers? those are your negotiation options

–i haven’t actually encountered em yet but i think they have something to do with eden gates

actual tips:

-take your time to find a good location before settling down, no timers start until you have colonists

-with a few windmills and mines, you can, in fact, spend 200 years mapping out the entire reachable southern hemisphere

-i usually go try to balance my civilian industry and alloy plants, and would suggest the same

-multiple shuttle bases make terraforming much easier

-the food processor costs about 5000 raw food to make all the things you want in it.

-sell out the spy unless you want to get nuked, trust me

-the reward for crushing the mechs is far greater than annexing them (permanent drone boost vs their units(their explorers look really dope tho as far as flavor options))

-if you don’t have storage research, just make administrative buildings and turn them off, this will increase overall storage capacity without wasting water, minerals, and electricity (helps with long term planning too)

-mod shelters are what will attract people to a city, build them last

-blitz fighters solve ALL your combat problems, get like 20 of them and enjoy the devastation.

-thank you for reading all my knowledge for an incredibly niche game

THANK YOUS AND SHOUT OUTS:
