Without Nvidia, the AMD Graphics business opened CES with four new mobile RDNA3 GPUs, and upgrades to the accompanying graphics technologies.

AMD launched the Radeon RX 7600M XT and RX 7600M; both GPUs benefited greatly from a 1080p gaming on laptops. The Radeon RX 7770 and RX 7600S are intended for thin and light laptops with up to 100W of power. AMD is also releasing two future software technologies, HYPR-RX, a master control of sorts to enable all AMDs gaming features, and SmartShift RSR to help a upscaling upscaling on supported laptops.

Even though Nvidia announced the RTX 4090/4080 GPU for laptops without much detail, AMD did a bit better. Yet, wondering the key details were laid to rest.

AMD announced the next generation Radeon RX6600M, 6700M, and 6800M in May 2021. The RX 6600M included 8 compute units/ray accelerators, 8GB of memory GDDR6, a game clock of 2177MHz, an 128-bit memory interface and 32MB of Infinity Cache.

All we know about the RX 7600M and RX 7600M is they’re a step above the RDNA 3 architecture. In the 7600M, the GB of RAM, a memory bus has a 64-bit processor, and 32 TFLOPS on the FP32 yayaya. The RX 7600M is used for the same memory and bus width, and with 28 TFLOPs instead. We have not yet discovered the number of compute unit accelerators and the number of GPU accelerators. (In the RX6600M, they were 28 CUs and 62 MHz respectively.)

On a level of performance, there are certain advantages: The 7600M XT is 26% faster with most popular consoles, according to AMD. AMD is also claiming that the 7600M XT is faster than the RTX 3060 and 12GB variants, too.

AMD compared the RX7600M XT to its own 6600m, and Nvidias portable GeForce RTX 3060.

In addition, the RX 7700 and 7600S have same design; both are offered with 8GB of GDDR6 and a 128-bit bus. The RX 7600S has 28 32-bit TFLOPS, while the 7700S has 32 TFLOPS.

The new iote-loader is expected to replace the two e-digits: Alienware M18 and M16, Asus TUF Gaming A16, Emdoor APX970 and AG958GP, and the IP3 ARN37A.

Naturally, AMD believes its new GPUs offer significant advantages in thin-and-light laptops. AMD compared the new GPUs to the older 6700S.

The four of the new GPUs consume the same die space and use the same process technology.

New software enhancements will be added on the way.

All four GPUs will support AV1 hardware encode and decode, AMD noise suppression, and content-adaptive machine-learning and AI visual analysis to preserve text, according to Aaron Steinman, head of Radeon product management atAMD.

Three additional software technologies merit attention. In the first half of 2023, AMD is going to ship SmartShift RSR, a technology that can hardly be used, but offload any upscaling computation to the APU, said Steinman. FidelityFX super resolution (FSR) will launch a 3.0 version that will offer changes like better upscaling and fluid motion frames. Lastly, AMD Software will support HYPR-RX, a single-button control that combines Radeon Anti-Lag, Radeon Boost, Radeon Super Resolution and more, Steinman said. Moving on HYPR-RX, too, will turn these features on. They’ll be available sometime in the first half of 2023, said AMD.

AMD said HYPR-RX will offer a one-click switch if the user can turn on various graphics acceleration technologies.
