Random: Sonic Frontiers TV Spot Revives The Long Dormant ‘SEGA Scream’

Sonic Frontiers is out now for Switch, but that hasn’t stopped Sega from releasing a new TV ad to show off the game to potential audiences.

It’s pretty standard stuff for the most part, if a bit embarrassing. It juxtaposes the gameplay of Sonic Frontiers (clearly No the Switch version, by the way) with footage showing a mother and son running home from work or school so they can sit and play while eating some snacks. oooh.

We see the usual gameplay stuff here, including crushing rails, side steps, and the new ‘Cyloop’ ability, but the thing that really sold the whole thing didn’t even happen until the very last moment. After the ad shows the game’s art, a cute little dog (a Pomeranian, maybe?) appears, yelling “SEGA!” in the most ridiculous possible voice. Sounds familiar? Should: The Scream is a revival of the classic “Sega Scream” that used to accompany company advertisements.

Of course, the rest of the ad is the very definition of “meh”, but the inclusion of Sega’s scream was such a pleasant surprise that we simply have to highlight it here. Check it out for yourself:
