It’s time for a new era. Pokemon TCG Japan will release two sets on January 20, 2023 that will kick off Generation Nine and bring Pokemon and Trainers to thePokemon TCG. These two sisters sets are the Scarlet or the Violet sisters. This set and three sixty-card Set ex decks will be the basis of the English-language setScarlet & Violet base going out internationally on March 31, 2023. When it emerged that the English-language version of the sets will now closely mirror Japanese sets, using silver borders and set codes instead of set symbols. A new set also sees the return of the original low-case ex card type and the debut of the Terastal ex card type which will replace Vs and VMAX as Ultra Rares. We haven’t yet seen how full arts and secret rares of the Scarlet & Violet era will appear. Today we look at the rare, overlooked Johto favorite which gets an Ultra Rare card.

Ampharos were slighted in the Winning Age. Although Flaaffy has a lot of bad Pokemon, it’s not the more deserving species that got Gold Shiny treatment. Now, Ampharos comes back with an ex as the start of thescarlet and/or Violet era and thus the other one is the Scarlet & Violet era.
