Could PlayStation Easy Platinum games be banned?
What’s more, it seems that titles like the previous one could be coming to an end. However, that is if a letter apparently sent by Sony is to be believed. It seems that “Pallas” and simple Platinum games may be shadowbanned or removed from the PS Store.
In a letter sent to Dex.Exe via an anonymous source, Sony warned its PS Store partners that they oversaturate “unwanted mail” could result in a ban.
“SIE strives to ensure that customers can search and discover the full range of experiences on PlayStation and that partners have a fair means of being discovered.”, reads the alleged letter from Sony.
Sony’s letter continues:
“When partners overload or spam the PlayStation Store with many variants of the same type of content, it can negatively affect both the customer and partner experience.
“Partner Requirements and Authorizations: When SIE reviews content submitted to PlayStation Store, products that have the following characteristics are identified as “spam” or “repetitive” content:
- “Products whose functionality and/or assets are copied or not significantly different from products already published on PlayStation Store, regardless of publisher of record.
- “Multiple product concepts and variants, published by individual partners, that have duplicate functionality or experiences, differentiated only by minor variations of functionality or assets.
- “Whenever possible, partners should consider aggregating small, similar content experiences into a single product, using in-game commerce to expand or broaden the experience.
- “For example, offering different trophies for each product is not enough to differentiate the content”.
You can still pet the hamster
At the time of writing, the aforementioned ‘Caress the…Titles remain on PlayStation Store.
Plus, we’re sure there are plenty of other easy-to-win Platinum games on the platform. However, it remains to be seen if the words of the letter come true and we will end up seeing far fewer of these.”games” in the Sony storefront.
