We’ve got good news and bad news about Payday 3, the latest entry in the multiplayer rob-em-up series.
A good news is that, as previously thought, Payday 3 will definitely come this year and its now available to wishlist on steam. This is co-developed by Starbreeze Studios and Overkill Software, which is in fact a story in itself. Why? The Walking Dead game fell flat after the exploding hit Overkill.
Like we did with real impressions, it was simply Payday with zombies, rather than simply a full-on The Walking Dead game. Rather than having gone to a full-on world where zombies came in, Starbreeze ended up buying Overkill if they hadn’t, it was possible we wouldn’t have a Payday three. Yes, Overkill created the two games Payday, but the failure of Overkill The Walking Dead (yes, they actually put their name in there) won no favours to the studio.
Do you want some more good news? There’s also a trailer, though it’s mostly a glorified story. Overkill declared 2023 the Year of Payday 3. Let hope they won’t end up getting too late for 2024. This could be a little embarrassing. You’ll be playing in the same way as the Paydaygang who took over the retirement penalty. There will be a single-player option, but you’ll probably see the multiplayer as the main focus of the game.
The bad news is that the logo they were going with is pretty uninspiring. Come on! no subtitle? Are you sure that the numbers do not belong to the logo? What, so-called Payd3yday, or to let all out all out P3yd3y? Has Overkill or Starbreeze ever seen a single fast & Furious trailer?
Oh well. Payday 3 on Steam is available here, but it’ll launch on PC and console. If everything goes well, it will be a publication by Prime Matter this year.
