With all the superhero video games flying around, it’s easy to lose track of what’s on the way. Alongside Insomniac’s Spider-Man 2 and the confirmed Wolverine game, there’s EA Motive’s Iron Man, Amy Hennig’s Black Panther/Captain America outing, and EA’s single-player Black Panther.

It isn’t just the world of the Avengers muscling into the ever-growing superhero game genre, as DC is getting its own output in the form of Rocksteady’s long-awaited Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League and Monolith’s open-world Wonder Woman game. Sadly, the latter tends to get forgotten.

We’ve barely heard a peep from the open-world Wonder Woman game since the Middle-earth: Shadow of Modor developer was announced as the studio behind Wonder Woman. That all changed when someone at Monolith Productions changed their LinkedIn header to some Wonder Woman artwork.

Although it wasn’t much, fans started sharing the blurry image far and wide, which quickly led to its removal by Senior Motion Capture Supervisor James Philip Gentile. If you were questioning the legitimacy of the Wonder Woman game artwork, the fact it’s been pulled suggests it’s the real deal.

In the image, we see Diana Prince in her classic Wonder Woman outfit. She’s flanked by what looks like another version of herself in an Amazonian outfit and one boasting futuristic attire. This worryingly hints that we’ll be shelling out for cosmetics on another live-service game.

What do we know about Monolith’s Wonder Woman game?

Wonder Woman was announced back in 2021, and while details are thin on the ground, we’re told it will be “an original story set in the DC Universe.” The fact Monolith has been hiring writers to work on “procedural content” suggests Shadow of Mordor’s Nemesis System will be making a comeback.

As Kill the Justice League has been pushed to 2024 amidst a major rework, we could see two DC games next year. Still, two years after Wonder Woman was announced, we don’t have an official title or a release date. Now that leaks are making it out into the wild, we should hopefully find out more about Wonder Woman very soon.
