    • The latest entry from Netflix Games is a new take on the classic Minesweeper.
    • First released for PC by Microsoft in the 90s, its design is even older.
    • This new tech includes full graphics and world tour mode.

Netflix Games’ latest entry is a lot simpler than some of their indie hits and show spinoffs. In fact, it’s something most of us have taken for granted on our other devices, and that’s the logic puzzle classic Minesweeper is. In Minesweeper Netflix you traverse the world and mine dangerous explosives, unlocking new landmarks as you go.

Minesweeper is a simple game. Well, it isn’t. Really A simple game, but the generation that grew up on Microsoft Minesweeper would probably disagree. Simply put, it does what it says on the tin, you have a grid and sweep for mines.

Each square you click on shows a number indicating how many mines are around it. You flag each square. Think Have a mine and slowly work your way across the board until (hopefully) you’ve cleared or flagged every last square.

    Crushing depth

Even if it’s hard to ‘get’ for those of us who grew up with the simple pleasures of Fruit Ninja and Candy Crush, Minesweeper is still a classic for a reason. And testing an online version to understand the rules again definitely took a few more minutes than we should have.

So, will it be enough for people to sign up for Netflix’s premium tier to access it? Probably not, but Minesweeper might be another reason to switch to this subscription if you already have it and are a fan of classic logic puzzles.
