Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord Best Immersive Mods

An up-to-date list of the best mods, favouring immersive mods in the load order example, but inclusive of everything that is deserving.

Sections appropriated to make finding the best mods of their respective categories easy, with the headers being links.

Featured Mods

This section will be updated from time to time to highlight any mod I think is appropriate.

The mods included in this guide are my choice picks, not an exhaustive list of everything out there.

Featured must know-about mods

Siege tower fix[www.nexusmods.com]

This mod features a clever work-around for the infamous siege tower bug present in the game since it’s release. Through forcing the footmen to run towards the tower and breaking the ladder nav mesh at the bottom the soldiers who start to climb only have the option to go up, for there is no way to get off at the bottom.

Authors note

This mod is compatible with Realistic Battle Mod, you need only go into the AI module of RBM and change the siege tower entry from 0 to 1 to re-enable siege towers in your game.

Realistic Battle Mod[www.nexusmods.com]

Combat Module working on 1.6.4 | Both modules working on 1.6.3 stable

This mod cannot be praised more highly for its contribution to immersive play. It successfully creates a far more realistic battle experience compared to the vanilla game. The videos below give a very clear example and its painfully obvious how much better the game with this mod is compared to without – go ahead just watch one minute of each video.

Vanilla (No Realistic Battle Modules Activated)

Realistic Battle Mod (AI Module Only)

Realistic Battle Mod (Both RBM Modules)

Immersive Mods (must haves)

This list is in no particular order!

Raise your Banner[www.nexusmods.com]

Working on 1.6.4

This mod is pretty light and straight forward – but it is immersive. Your troops will naturally spawn with the appropriate number of banners for the appropriate size of your force. It looks awesome.

AI Values Life[www.nexusmods.com]

Working on 1.6.4

Here we have a veteran mod author who has other mods featured in this list below. This mod is a pretty significant one to your game world – breathing a lot of life (and death) into it. The mod basically evaluates opposing forces before battle to determine if one would be best to surrender. If no surrender happens it will override the vanilla algorithm for determining if any heroes are killed in action. Both features are highly configurable with settings found in MCM. (sweet spot is 8-10%)

Improved Garrisons[www.nexusmods.com]

Working on 1.6.4

This mod does a lot. A lot. Seamlessly integrates into your game with a very user friendly UI. It is very well done. It provides functionality to your fiefs and its garrisons, including the ability to train the garrison in a way you determine, send out recruiters to recruit troops according to a template you determine. The ability to send troops from one garrison to the other, enables you to set up patrols from the garrison and much more. The mod features an in-depth tutorial to get you to grips with it.

Garrisons Do Something[www.nexusmods.com]

Working on 1.6.4

This mod compliments the last rather well, it’s most notable feature for me is its auto dispatching of garrison troops to meet hostile parties. The garrison parties will double the size of the hostile party it is seeking out (the garrison must meet the requirements) and destroy them, then return. This happens without notifying you, keeps your territory in orderly fashion.

The Mod author has other mods too worth checking out (including the mods ‘AI Values Life’ & ‘Heroes Must Die’ featured on this list):

Heroes Must Die[www.nexusmods.com]

Working on 1.6.4

This mod overhauls the death notifications in the game world and gives more configuration to you, to dictate the rates at which heroes die (including yourself), it overrides the vanilla calculations with your own. It also allows you to select which of your heirs you would like to continue on as after your untimely(or not) death.

Next two come as a pair – Banner paste requires Persistent colour mod in order to function without crashing.

Banner Paste[www.nexusmods.com]

Working on 1.6.4

&

Banner Color Persistence[www.nexusmods.com]

Working on 1.6.4

Basically, while it’s not a fully fledged feature in the native game these pair give you some extra options when it comes to your Banner in Bannerlord.

Use this site to create custom banners, copy the link and then paste it inside of the banner editor in game: https://bannerlord.party/banner/

Here’s some of my favourites I have made.

Diplomacy[www.nexusmods.com]

Working on 1.6.4

This one really shouldn’t be a mod – but it is. It provides more diplomatic options to you, a kingdom ruler. Includes non-aggression treaties, peace treaties, alliances and handy send a messenger feature. It also includes a full blown rebellion feature and is under constant development with more features to come. A true must have.

Party Screen Enhancements[www.nexusmods.com]

Dead Mod Pack[www.nexusmods.com]

Varying compatibility (check each mod individually)

A quality of life quality of life mod – worth noting here so you can peruse if any suit your liking.

Cheating mods

This list is in no particular order!

The next list of mods will of course give you things you probably shouldn’t have for a fair game. Some do definitely include some things which can help your game or encourage immersion (some definitely don’t).

Character Manager[www.nexusmods.com]

Working on 1.6.4

This mod gives you warband like functionality – a text file to do your edits with a save and load feature found on every character in the encyclopedia of the game. I now use it to carry my characters over to a new save – the trade off for me is, because of frequent updates I’m always updating to new beta branches etc this provides me a way to carry my character from my previous save over (if it is still a reasonably immature character at least). That way, while I may have all my relations zipped to nil etc I have a base party size and basic skills in place – makes starting again much more enjoyable when done frequently.

Note the image displays the command line version, there is a GUI version available – working in 1.6.4

Lazy Smith[www.nexusmods.com]

Working on 1.6.4

As the name suggests, this makes the already OP smithing feature even more OP. The best thing about this mod in my opinion is that you can hold shift or ctrl keys to smith the maximum amount or five at a time provided you have the resources to do it.

Bannerlord Cheats[www.nexusmods.com]

Working on 1.6.4

No cheat list would be complete without mentioning this mod – packed full of settings found inside of MCM. You should use it sparingly 😉
