With the release of the Savage Lands Season Pass came the release of Zabu, the latest card to hit Marvel Snap. Zabu is a two-power, three-cost card that reduces the cost of four-cost cards by 2. While Zabu can’t make cards cost less than one, the cost reduction it offers still allows for some ridiculously powerful plays in turn four and beyond, and as such, Zabu has already spawned some very powerful decks.

    Budget Dino Zabu

First off, there’s a deck that features zero Series 3 cards but is still pretty strong with the addition of Zabu, and that’s the Budget Dino Zabu deck. This deck is very strong for a Series 2 deck that usually wins its games by dropping one or two devilish dinosaurs to take two of the three board placements. Your starting game will consist of playing cards like Sunspot, Agent 13, and Cable. Sunspot fills the turns where you don’t spend all your energy, while Agent 13 and Cable take a few cards for you to fill your hand. Half of the game will consist of playing Storm, Zabu, and some four-drops. Storm serves to get rid of bad placements while potentially blocking a placement with it and your follow-up game. Enchantress and Shang-Chi are powerful tech cards that only get better with a Zabu discount. White Queen can win games on her own by copying your opponent’s highest cost card, giving you a play on turn 5 or 6. Moongirl serves to copy Devil Dino, making her a key card for the deck. Lastly, Devil Dino and America Chavez are your final bombs.

    Zabu Discard

Featuring a combo-focused, high-roll style, this Zabu discard deck is strong in some games and weak in others. However, because it can provide such a huge swing in a single turn, it’s a quintessential Marvel Snap deck, capable of grabbing four to eight cubes in many games surprising opponents with a huge burst of power. With this deck, the goal will be to play winning conditions like Morbius and Dracula before getting to key discards like Swarm and Apocalypse. Cards you never want to discard are Wong, Zabu, Dracula, and Morbius, as these are cards that help your combo work and close out games. If you manage to get Apocalypse in your hand while Dracula is on board, then you’ll want to discard your hand quickly so Dracula can copy Apocalypse’s power. This deck also has a fun combination with Wong and Gambit, allowing you to sometimes pull out two of your opponent’s key cards, offering another unique path to victory. Keep in mind that this deck will take some getting used to, as you’ll sometimes get stuck waiting several turns without doing anything before emptying your hand on subsequent turns.

    Dark Hawk Zabu

While the Zabu Discard deck is more of a high-tier deck, this Zabu Darkhawk list is looking for total consistency. The purpose and power of this deck lies in the combos that focus on the Darkhawk itself. Specifically, you want to use Moon Girl to make multiple copies of Darkhawk or use Mystique to copy Darkhawk’s effect. Both options create massive cards that can be cast on turn six to surprise opponents. Also, Absorbing man has strong combos that are also compatible with this deck. The two cards you want to copy with Absorbing Man will either be Rockslide to get extra rocks in the opponent’s deck and thus more Darkhawk power, or you can copy Spider-man with Absorbing Man to lock two lanes, devastating the turn of track your opponent. Zabu is the card that makes these combos possible and powerful, serving as both a combo enabler and a cost reducer. For the rest of the cards, Black Widow blocks a project and Korg kicks a rock into the opponent’s deck which serve to power up Darkhawk and damage the opponent’s projects. Psylocke is a great curve filler card in this deck, allowing you to play four drops into the curve with no Zabu in hand. Finally, America Chavez is a bomb on the sixth turn that helps the consistency of the deck.
