Respawn Entertainment showed off the results of a new matchmaking test today, which looks like they are regaining the experience of players fighting royale.

In a tweet posted on the official Respawn Twitter account this afternoon, the developer revealed that it tested an adaptability in one particular area during the holiday season. The goal of the tests was to make players more fair matchmaking. While he didn’t share specific information on what changes were made, Respawn revealed that he would be sharing a blog post with more information soon.

In the past, we took some @PlayApex matchmaking tests in one region to find more balanced matches. We are seeing promising results in the quest for a better kill (pink line in the graph). We’ll continue to monitor and have a blog with more insights to come! pic.twitter.com/1oScoz0sLizUaxAl3 – a single-player player is able to get more kills from the game’s player.

Respawn is being able to measure match balance at least partly from the number of players in the match who have a kill. An attached graph shows the percentage of players with at least one kill in a battle royale match in the test region, as is the other two regions which appear to be the control group. The test region had a significative success rate, with at least one kill compared to the two federations. Although there was no number on the graph Y axis for scale, the difference is not known.

Respawn said that it’s not yet clear to any players that matchmaking changes are possible but players were frustrated with what they think was a lack of transparency on their part. Some are frustrated that the game uses skill-based matchmaking, a system that puts players in lobbies with people of similar skill levels. With this latest update, it’s pretty much possible that the future looks promising for players who are tired of dealing with rough lobbies.
