After a long time, a standout Contenders DPS Kamden Sugar Free Hijada will now finally play in the Overwatch League.

The Titans rebuild continues with today announced that Sugarfree will join their roster for the season 2023, just a little under two weeks after the proud young player turned 18. Sugarfree joins former American Tornado player Luka Aspire Rolovic and a trio of former Boston Uprising players officially set to try and get the Titans back from a tumultuous 5-19 season.

Please welcome the youngest player to hit number 1 in North American Azeroth. Introducing our Flex DPS for the 2023 season, MANY: O’Brien, for a lark of the dark, a gypsy by the sunday.

Many fans thought they wouldn’t ever see Sugarfree on an Overwatch League server since he was young and his own experience was very limited. Upon entering the Contenders scene and as a DPS for the Atlanta Academy, Sugarfree was only 13 years old. The age limit for the Overwatch League was 18. At the time, it was just recently changed to 17.

Sugarfree helped the Atlanta Academy to achieve top-three finishes, such as an oscar in Overwatch 2018 Season Two: North America. This erroneation of the team continued to form the first roster for the Atlanta Reign in the Overwatch League, the major for which he sadly missed Sugarfree.

In 2020, Sugarfree announced that he didn’t move into competitive Overwatch, but he left for the dominant American Tornado player and joined the dominating American Tornado roster as a stand-in for Cameron wub Johnson. American Tornado was another roster that saw great success for Contenders by storming through the Overwatch Contenders 2020: The Gauntlet: North America tournament. After all, the other roster nearly fully went to the Overwatch League, with Sugarfree remaining in the outside looking in because of his age.

Sugarfree is among the biggest signings announced by the San Francisco Shock as well as the announcement that the tank Choi Max Su-min and DPS Chae HeeSang will join his roster for next season. As Free agency rolls on and many teams are in rebuild mode, fans will eagerly appreciate how Contenders players fit into the equation.
