With the imminent release of new content in Season 3 of Modern Warfare 2 comes a new Battle Pass to work with and invest in. Unlike the previous two seasons, however, Activision Blizzard is introducing a new type of Battle Pass called the BlackCell Battle Pass. While it’s functionally similar to what we’ve seen in the past, there are some key differences that are important. As such, here’s everything you need to know about the BlackCell Battle Pass and whether it’s worth your hard-earned money in Modern Warfare 2.
Is it worth buying the CoD BlackCell Pass in MW2 Season 3?
For starters, the BlackCell Pass completely replaces the Battle Pass Bundle in Modern Warfare 2, Warzone 2, and the Warzone 2 DMZ once Season 3 begins. It will basically be the highest tier Battle Pass option you can buy in both entities. . Where the question of value comes into play, however, is how it is obtained.
The BlackCell Pass cannot be purchased with COD points, unlike previous versions of the pass. This means that saving COD points from previous seasons is no longer a viable option to pay for the next pass. You need to spend $30 dollars to purchase this pass starting with Season 3. Is this worth it? Well, that depends.

If you’re someone who really likes cosmetics, or really enjoys playing Modern Warfare 2 or Warzone on a consistent basis, then you may find something of value in this pass as it contains a lot of good stuff. However, if you don’t like cosmetics, we think the BlackCell pass not worth spending money. What you get when you buy this pass is pretty much all the cosmetics. You’ll still get jumps that will allow you to progress through the Battle Pass more quickly, but this doesn’t really matter due to the long length of the seasons anyway. We don’t recommend it, especially since you can’t buy it with COD points anymore.
What is the Call of Duty BlackCell Premium Pass in MW2 Season 3
Despite our recommendation, BlackCell Pass does come with a lot of stuff that might be worth your time, again, if you’re a constant player or love tinkering with cosmetics. The BlackCell Pass offers the following:
- Full access to the Season 3 Battle Pass
- Jumps of 20 levels (25 on Playstation)
- 1,100 COD Points awarded on purchase
- 1,400 COD Points awarded throughout the completion of the Battle Pass
- A BlackCell operator wearing an animated camouflage skin.
- A professionally tuned weapon blueprint, vehicle skin, and finishing move
- An exclusive BlackCell sector in the Season 3 Battle Pass
- Battle Pass Instant Unlock sectors close to the BlackCell Sector
- Exclusive only for BlackCell Battle Pass Content
The exclusive BlackCell content is specific to the Operators located in the Season 3 Battle Pass. Each will have a BlackCell variant that is only available to BlackCell owners.
