In a recent episode of Hideo Kojima discussing Brain Structure, which is a podcast written by Kojima himself, we learn more about Death Stranding 2. Geoff Keighley, executive producer and host of The Game Awards, was the presenter of the episode. The episode involved a brief discussion on Deathstranding 2s Fragile and several other points related to the game.

In the interview, Kojima and Keighley talked a bit about the game industry as a whole and the influence that comes from The Game Awards. To resolve the issues regarding Death Stranding 2, Keighley managed to tackle some questions, but even while Kojima could share much, we find out the relevance of new cast members as well as a hint of the sequel.

In the podcast, Kojima wanted to star in the role of a female actress, Jessica Henwick (Game of Thrones, The Force Awakens) who was one of the presenters for The Game Awards 2022. You know that I’ve always liked Jessica [Henwick]. The podcast is just between uswell and emoji, so that doesn’t secret. When I was a kid, I thought that Jessica was a baby.

When asked about the trailer in The Games Awards, Kojima stated that Fragile will play a significant role in the game along with the announced cast members Elle Fanning and Shioli Kutsuna.

It’s unclear if Elle is in the trailer, but in the near future, I can show what role they’re playing. But with the Who am I teaser I introduced three female actors. You know that I can’t disclose a lot right now, but those three women have significant roles. I can’t say so much now, but Fragile is going to be important. The role Elle and Shioli are part of the team and is not the whole team. They’ll be blown away by the crazy stuff we’ve done. I can’t reveal any signs yet, but I will also soon. It is something no one has seen before.

He also dropped a cryptic hint to the song used to appear at The Game Awards.

Well, watching a phone can be a very small thing, so it’s good to watch it on a lot bigger screen. Look at all the details. There are many explanations. Some people might have noticed zooming in on the cockpit. Suddenly everything is in the trailer. Those who watch it zoom in, and talk about it. And I have a reason I’ve appeared with that music. [Laughs] Did I speak too much?

Kojima stated that 2023 is already a busy year for him and his team, so that he’ll be able to update DS2 sometime next year. Death Stranding 2 is currently in development, with no release date, and was announced to release on the PS5.
