In the last update of Final Fantasy XIV, patch 6.3, a new trial, Mount Ordeals, was added. This new trial sees you travel to one of Thavnair’s highest peaks to battle a void-sent Archfiend of incredible power. Here’s how to unlock Mount Ordeals Trial in FFXIV Patch 6.3
How to unlock Mount Ordeals in FFXIV
To unlock Mount Ordeals and take on Rubicante, the Arch-fiend of Fire, you must first complete the first seven quests of Final Fantasy XIV patch 6.3 Main Story Quest (MSQ). In the eighth mission, Desires Untold, you will meet Rubicante and she will challenge you to a battle on top of a mountain.

The quest that unlocks Mount Ordeals is called Desires Untold. To unlock it, he talks to Nahbdeen, who is in The Perfumed Rise, Thavnair (X: 10, Y: 10). In addition to the rewards from the trial, completing the quest will grant you 4235 gil and your choice of one of the following: Heavens’ Eye Materia XI, Savage Aim Materia XI, Savage Might Materia XI.
Rubicante is the Archfiend of Fire and one of Lord Golbez’s most capable fighters. The trial rewards for the basic clear are low, but for the more difficult, extreme version, there are much more lucrative rewards.
Unlock Mount Ordeals (Extreme) in FFXIV
To unlock Mount Ordeals (Extreme), head over to Old Sharlayanand talk to him wandering minstrel, (X: 12.6, Y: 14.2). Select the dialogue option about Mount Ordeals and after a short cutscene, Mount Ordeals (Extreme) will unlock.
