There’s a lot to discover in Zaralek Cavern, which was introduced in the World of Warcraft 10.1 update. A new chest has started to appear called the Blazing Shadowflame Chest, but it’s not as simple as interacting with it to open it.
How to open Blazing Shadowflame chests in WoW
The Blazing Shadowflame Chest can be opened by equipping Onyxia Scale Cloak, a name players will remember from Vanilla WoW. Of course, there’s not much reason to expect someone to hold on to a cloak for that long, so it’s a good thing that it can be bought on the auction house.

Players with the necessary crafting skills can also make one to use, cutting the middleman out of using the auction house. Once you have the cloak, the chest can be found in the Caverns of Zaralek, the new zone for 10.1.
What is in the Blazing Shadowflame chests in WoW?
Since this chest has a weird way of opening it, just like the Dreamer’s Bounty chest, you might be wondering if it means there’s a strong team locked behind it. The answer to that is that it depends. There’s a chance you can find some decent stuff, but you’re more likely to get Flightstones as the most useful item.
However, it’s interesting to see Blizzard make a chest have a new unlock mechanic that serves as a callback to the good old days of the game. With Dragonflight making several connections to the early days of WoW, players must be wondering what it means for the future.
