One Piece Odyssey, being a turn-based RPG, includes a staple of the genre: the auto-battle system. It can help keep you from getting burned out by routine and menus, but you might want to learn a bit more about it before it gets you in trouble, too. Here’s how to use the Auto Battle system in One Piece Odyssey.
How to enable and disable Auto Battle in One Piece Odyssey
One Piece Odyssey’s Auto Battle mode almost feels hidden. To find it, select change battle mode from your Tactics Menu, where you would normally switch between characters. Next, you’ll be taken through a quick tutorial of how it works. What the tutorial won’t tell you is that Auto Battle mode will remain active between fights, even if a dramatic scene occurs. It can only be turned off manually, by pressing the indicated button or key to return to your Tactics Menu.

When to use (and not use) Auto Battle in One Piece Odyssey
One Piece Odyssey’s AI mode will attempt to optimize character actions in combat for efficiency. It can use your active character’s abilities, but it won’t trade your party members. It also won’t change the order in which your characters act. Much of the battle system relies on leveraging certain types of attack: power, speed, or technique, and the AI ​​largely ignores this system.
If you really just want to get away and explore the island, it makes sense to turn on AI mode for battles, especially if the enemies in the area are lower level than you. We do not recommend using AI for boss battles, as using the effectiveness of the attack type well during these fights can significantly change the outcome. There will also be times when you encounter a normal enemy where a dramatic battle scene ensues. We strongly recommend that you quickly turn off your AI mode to meet the requirements of the dramatic scene. The AI ​​will not take these requirements into account and you may lose the opportunity to gain additional Exp.
