Team Fortress 2 is a classic hero-based FPS title that I spent many hours playing. I loved the chaotic cast and class based abilities, especially the aesthetics. With a new update, I went back in to see what had changed. It can be difficult to see the full art style of the game in action, but this can be fixed by changing the field of view. But how do you change the FOV in Team Fortress 2?
How to change the field of view in Team Fortress 2
By changing your FOV in Team Fortress 2, you can modify the FOV for your weapon and character model. I recommend playing around with these two settings until you find the desired preference. With that being said, let’s find out how to change the FOV in TF2 for your weapon and model.
How to change the field of view of a weapon in TF2
- Activate Developer Console mode.
- Go to Options.
- Click Advanced.
- Toggle developer console.
- Press the ~ key.
- Write fov_desired (Desired Number)

If I wanted to set my FOV to 90; I would type the command fov_desired 90. This will change the FOV of your weapon, but you can also change the FOV of your character model. This is basically the same process but with a different command.
How to change model FOV in TF2
- Activate Developer Console mode.
- Go to Options.
- Click Advanced.
- Toggle developer console.
- Press the ~ key.
- Write viewmodel_fov (Desired Number)
Like the FOV of the weapon, you need to enter the desired number for the FOV of your model. The command would look like viewmodel_fov 90. You can undo both the weapon and model FOV at any time, so don’t be afraid to experiment.
