We’d love to see a new Castlevania from the developers of God of War!

Could Santa Monica develop the next Castlevania?
Until the recent Silent Hill revelations, we ruled out the possibility of Konami outsourcing the Castlevania license. However, as we now know, Konami has outsourced Silent Hill to a variety of third-party developers, including the Bloober Team, which is handling the Silent Hill 2 remake.
If Konami were to outsource the Castlevania license to a developer, Santa Monica Studio would be a perfect candidate. However, if there were to be a negative if Santa Monica Studio were to develop a new Castlevania, it would probably be a PlayStation exclusive.
After all, the God of War series is one of the best action-adventure-hack franchises of all time. This form of gameplay was even more prominent before God of War (2018), which in turn elevated the storytelling of the series as a whole.
The Castlevania series is one of the most iconic and beloved video game properties of all time. It was first released for the NES in 1986 and has seen many sequels and iterations since.
However, the last Castlevania game to be released was Lords of Shadow 2 in 2014 for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360. Unfortunately, unlike Lords of Shadow (2010), its sequel was not as well received.
It’s been almost 10 years since Castlevania had a new game!
According to Metacritic, the first Lords of Shadow had a Metascore between 81 and 85, depending on the platform. While LOS2 scored much lower between 50 and 70 depending on the platform.
So are Lords of Shadow 2’s failures a reason why Konami refuses to bring back this series? We can only guess. What we can say though is that fans would love to see Castlevania make a triumphant return and we’re not talking about NFT, ok Konami!
