Genshin Impact’s massive and ever-growing cast of characters provides players with raw interactions between family, acquaintances, friends, and friends too close to canonically remain friends. While the game hasn’t confirmed official ship-offs between playable characters, it costs nothing to hope and dream that one day, HoYoverse will finally be brave enough to take some relationships a hundred steps further.

Prior to that, fans have been churning out a variety of guilty pleasure content, from fanart to fanfiction, for users to enjoy. Like them or hate them, here are some of the best community boats that might force you to come aboard. Warning: This article contains spoilers for past events, character and game stories, quests, and more.

    Beiguang – Beidou/Ningguang

There is a lot of dynamic between these two powerful women who protect Liyue from the sky and the sea. While Beidou and Ningguang are often at odds, they like to play chess together, in private, sometimes playing behind the locked doors of the elusive Jade Chamber. What happens inside is left to the imagination.

When it comes to business, the two enjoy a private relationship, where Ningguang orders Beidou to run his shady deals. They also seem close enough to receive gifts from each other, as Ningguang keeps an antique Crux Fleet porcelain in his office. There are many parallels that unite them, such as the hidden meanings implicit in their constellations and a shared difficult past.

But it was the Lantern Rite above that really turned Beiguang skeptics into devoted chargers. In the iconic event scene, Beidou openly praised Ningguang’s dress. And Ningguang responded with equal enthusiasm, stating that he found gold in his outfit, implying that he intentionally tried to get Beidou’s attention.

    Zhongchi – Zhongli/Childe or Childe/Zhongli

While the idea of the Geo Archon getting along with a Snezhnayan Diplomat sent on a mission to wreak havoc on Liyue sounds bizarre, Zhongli and Childe quickly became fan-favorite ships due to their suggestive interactions in the match. The two spent a lot of time together when Childe was in Liyue, so much so that Zhongli Trailer it was about the two of them hanging out. They share voice lines talking to the Traveler about each other, implying that they remain in close contact even after all the events that transpired.

Childe is jokingly nicknamed Zhongli’s wallet due to the former being a financial supporter for the Archon Without Mora. And among the expensive things Zhongli bought with Childe’s money was a pair of chopsticks patterned with dragons and phoenixes to help the Snezhnayan get used to using them. This is a common wedding gift in ancient China, where couples received chopsticks with this very motif to symbolize a happy marriage. You could consider it a proposal or a wish for her happiness, whatever feeds the charger in you.

    Xingyun-Xingqiu/Chongyun

Xingqiu and Chongyun are two very close friends. You could call them best friends, but the shippers would prefer the term ‘lovers’ instead. Following a common childhood friend trope, Xingqiu has become a prankster, often putting Chongyun at the center of his pranks. From forcing the latter to eat spicy food (despite his zero tolerance for heat) to submitting false reports of spirit sightings, we all know that Xingqiu goes the extra mile and above and beyond to annoy Chongyun just so they can spend more time together.

In an iconic interaction during the Moonchase Festival, Xingqiu asked Chongyun to accompany him to the Feiyun Commerce Guild to read a book aloud. The book in question was a romance novel titled “Young and Hopelessly in Love”, which implies that Xingqiu was hinting at the ice-cold boy to notice his advances.

    XiaoVen – Xiao and Venti

Perhaps one of the strangest ships is that of Xiao and Venti, two characters who have yet to make an impactful interaction in the game. Chargers in love with these two were drawn to their lore, which was hinted at in various parts of the game, particularly in the Yakshas: The Guardian Adept Story teaser. Once upon a time there were five Yakshas: three died and one was consumed by darkness. Xiao was about to succumb to the same tragic path, but the sound of the Dihua flute brought him back to his senses, protecting him from being overtaken by the darkness. It was Venti who played the tune on the Dihua flute, so Xiao was essentially saved by Anemo Archon.

To this day, the sound of the Dihua flute remains embedded in Xiao’s mind, who one day would like to dance amidst the sea of flowers, a reference to Venti’s symbolic Cecilia Garden. Interestingly, Serenitea Pot’s Monstadt Windward Manor claims that a bard once visited an adept’s abode. Fans believe that they are referring to Venti and Xiao. Fan-created work tends to capitalize on this longing-based relationship, so fans of a bit of angst may find this ship particularly lucrative.

Itto Sara – Arataki Itto/Kujou Sara

This oni-tengu couple is always at odds with their contrasting personalities. But despite the sparseness of its characters’ lore, there’s so much that binds them together that it’s hard not to jump on their ship. Their relationship begins with a childhood interaction, in which the two were supposed to have a wrestling match in Byakko Plain. After sustaining injuries, the tengu ‘boy’ carried Itto back home. None seem to associate the child they played with each other, but it is heavily implied that the tengu was Sara, as she was described to him as a boy when she was a child.

It was an unlikely trade during the Vision Hunting Act that set the fuel for this ship to actually sail. Bulletin boards are known to be hubs for ships to dock, and Inazuma’s was no exception. In an exchange on the bulletin board, Itto wrote to Sara and told her not to die in battle. Sara responded, telling the “crimson oni idiot” not to let himself be killed either. Yae Miko made sure these messages remained intact, so she clearly sends them too.

    Kavetham – Alhaitham/Kaveh

    Screenshot from MyFullGames

While Alhaitham and Kaveh have yet to be released as playable characters, they did interact in-game and even hinted at the center of all ships, Sumeru’s bulletin boards. They had a senior-junior relationship at Akademiya, with Alhaitham being part of Haravatat Darshan, while Kaveh was at Kshahrewar. Eventually, they graduated and became roommates, which involves Kaveh taking advantage of Alhaitham’s comfortable house due to bankruptcy.

What makes this pair an absolute joy to ship is that they hate each other, treating fans with an endless stream of bickering. Kaveh is an alcoholic and has stolen cases of wine at Alhaitham’s expense. He frequents the Lambad Tavern, where the bill is always collected from his roommate with a well-paying job. Alhaitham is shown to enjoy doing things to annoy Kaveh, such as suggesting cutting off Kshahrewar’s funding, and leaks even claim that his inactivity involves taking Kaveh’s keys by accident, with no visible remorse. Despite their differences, the two are still ‘roommates’. Their interactions thus far have been compared to an elderly married couple, and nothing would make fans happier than the ringing of their wedding bells.
