The Genshin Impact Fulminating Sandstorm event runs from April, the 21st, 2023, to May 1, 2023, introducing players to the legendary Wenutslayer Cannon, which will be used to control the growing population of Wenuts. The event involves multiple challenge-tied quests, each with a different set of objectives.
How to unlock the Withering Sandstorm event in Genshin Impact
The Withering Sandstorm event is open to all players who have completed the following prerequisites:
- Reach Adventure Rank 28 or higher.
- Complete Archon Quest Chapter I: Act III – A new star is coming.
Note that you also need access to the Hadramaveth desert in Sumeru, where the challenges lie. Once you have completed all of the above, you will get the Event Quest called The killing of the worms: proposal, which consists of talking to researchers in the desert. It involves completing the first challenge of the event called Proposal and Meeting.

Go to the Withering Sandstorm page in the event menu, then click event details. Select the first challenge, Proposal & Meeting, and click go to challenge to find your location on the world map. Go to the challenge area and talk to vinayak to start it.
The challenge is to defeat two waves of enemies in three rounds and collect one Reagent per round (three in total). Begin by hooking the four-leaf seal to get a scuba blessing (red buff), which will create a shockwave when doing a dive attack. Defeat all the enemies and wait for the next wave to appear. Defeat the second wave as well.
Once this is done, look for the bright spot for some nearby boxes. Interact with it to collect a Component. If you’re lost, reference the highlighted area on the minimap to get back on track.
Once you’ve obtained the component, reference the highlighted area on the minimap to find the next challenge area. As before, hook into the Four-Blade Sigil to gain the Divine Blessing perk, do a Dive Attack, defeat two waves of enemies, and pick up the nearby Reagent. Do the same until all three Components have been collected.
Once you’re done, the challenge will be completed and the dialogue with the investigators will start. Can get rewards from event details and start the next event quest.
