Final Fantasy creator’s Apple Arcade exclusive Fantasia arrives on Switch this year.

During today’s Nintendo Direct, developer Mistwalker announced that its popular RPG Fantasian will make the jump to switch to an enhanced version called Fantasian Neo Dimension later this year. The title came out as an Apple Arcade exclusive in 2021 and currently holds an 80 out of 100 on review site Metacritic. It also won the Mobile Game of the Year award at the 25th Annual DICE Awards.

Mistwalker was founded in 2004 by Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi, who developed Fantasia. The studio often collaborates with longtime Final Fantasy composer Nobu Yumatsu, who also worked on Fantasia as a composer. To date, Mistwalker has released several critically acclaimed games, including Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, and The Last Story.

Fantasian uses similar turn-based design conventions as found in many classic Final Fantasy games. The title also implements several quality-of-life upgrades, such as the ability to skip random encounters with enemy types you’ve already defeated unless you choose to fight them all at once. Despite being a mobile title, Fantasian’s ties to Apple Arcade mean it doesn’t include any microtransactions or paid DLC.

Fantasian Neo Dimension comes to Nintendo Switch this holiday season.
