Dwarf Castle – Tips and Tricks on Storage and Storage

    Hoarding and hoarding

    I never store quanta.

I start with a large stockpile for everything (except stone, wood, mechanisms, ..), to get things underground as quickly as possible.

Outside the front door is a large woodshed to collect each log as it is cut:

    • You want massive logging operations with massive hauls by your army instead of a precious carpet that runs across the map like a raging giant elephant… wood to “take” from that massive stockpile. have small collections and give each to a carpenter’s workshop. . You need willow boxes and cages for their weight, maybe barrel oak for roleplay, and everything else turns into charcoal for me).

Then there are some small collections to set aside things that won’t be used for a while.

    • All jewels, all cloth, all leather. They can be in future bedrooms at the end of a hallway, a 3×4 is more than enough in the beginning.

Food is the first category I quickly separate:

    • Near the large dining room everyone gets a dedicated storage for drinks and ready meals. The kitchens are still nearby and receive large input stores on the floors above, thus short visits by kitchen personnel: meats, vegetables, cheeses, eggs, each specific and named (!) stock. . Nearby is furniture storage for barrels.

Build barrels and crates as quickly as possible to compress gems, clothes and food.

A typical seed stock does not allow a barrel to sell all unwanted seed bags.

Dedicated seed storage for my crops is organized with barrelless storage storage that provides a small long-term storage facility with functional barrels that are not universally accepted. .

They can be organized with little space:

    • 1×1 for long-term storage with 1 barrel, 1×2 feeding stock without barrel There is one row of dedicated seed storage per species.

Since you need some variety in alcohol, it’s preferable to start with several dwarf drinks, plus establish a level form for some support drinks. Preferably ones that don’t “plant” other than a drinkable crop (fisherberries, blackberries, raspberries and many others are good, strawberries are bad).

You will need enough bags for the seeds. Leather works well before your clothing industry starts.

More complex production chains such as those in the metal or textile industry are usually set up with warehousing to control the flow of materials. However, a workshop taking a resource from such a repository will need every resource from the giving repository:

My first wood furnace has a stack of wood feeding it and a stack of charcoal on the other side, taking it away.

My first smelter draws from charcoal and unprocessed fuel (lignite / bituminous coal) stockpiles. Depending on what I have, it makes metal (copper, bronze, brass) or it processes fuel.

On the next floor there is a large storage of coke.

More smelters are built for specific tasks: processing fuel, melting metal, etc. and the work is organized along the conditions of the production tasks.

I usually go for steel as soon as possible, to sort out the need for melting with what is to be laid. Building this wealth can be risky though.

    • Two small (1 x4) dedicated steel weapon and armor stores only accept steel items with the top 3 attributes. That’s it for now. Quality is more limited as the industry continues to operate.
    • A “Steel Scrap Stockpile” accepts the lower properties relevant for smelting.
    • A “scrap metal depot” accepts all metal weapons and armor that are not made of steel and are not of sample quality. Since I only use wooden boxes, I can easily designate all items to melt.
    • If you are lucky enough to ever find an unusable steel item, it may end up in the non-scrap collection and need to be manually designated for recycling. Usually not a big problem.

Metal recycling of “goblinite” can yield many different metal bars. I usually collect them all in one big pile and separate them later. Iron and steel get a dedicated storage soon, pig iron is only a transitional product and is never stored. I use gold and brass for most furniture and other items and keep all other metal bars further away in long term storage. If your map lacks wood you can use copper or brass barrels, copper bolts are good enough for hunting and can also be used for training. Messing around with ammo in the current version… not worth it in my opinion.
