In case you missed it, CD Projekt Red’s award-winning video game The Witcher 3 is getting a “next-gen” update on December 14.
As part of this, some Witcher Netflix DLC will also be added to the game, including on Nintendo Switch. In a new live stream, CDPR has now briefly outlined what players can expect. Rather than simply handing out the new gear and themed items to players, there will actually be a ‘DLC’ quest for all of this.
“We just thought that if we’re offering all those new armor, swords, items, we just want it to feel a little more part of the game, and of course if it’s cool armor, like with other armor in the game, there should be some quest. or content related to it. So we tried to make a quest that makes it part of the game.”
The team even brought back Geralt’s voice actors (including Doug Cockle) to voice and record some lines for this new DLC update.
So what can you expect from this DLC? It looks like there will be armor and swords from Geralt seasons 1 and 2 of the Netflix show, an alternate skin for Dandelion, and Nilfgaardian armor based on outfits from the show.
“We have a very special treat for all fans of the Netflix show! Enjoy alternate looks for the Dandelion and Nilfgaardian soldiers, as well as a new mission, inspired by the show, where you can get diagrams for new equipment for Geralt. What’s the mission? Shhh! No spoilers!
New cross-progression options will also be added to allow players to save and play across multiple platforms. Note that an update in 2020 gave players the ability to save on PC and Switch.
“A feature you know from Cyberpunk 2077: play how you want, where you want, and transfer your last save between platforms.”
