Capcom hasn’t ruled out Resident Evil Code: Veronica remake

Capcom has not ruled out the possibility of demonic resident Code: Veronica receiving a new version at some point in the future.

Fans have been waiting for an official Resident Evil Code: Veronica remake for years. While there are apparently no plans for that to happen just yet, Capcom has given its fans a ray of hope. At least.

Could a new version of Code: Veronica finally happen?

Asked by video game news outlet Noisy Pixel if Code: Veronica will ever get a remake, Resident Evil 4 remake producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi replied, “if the chance comes, maybe.

Sure, that’s by no means an official confirmation, but it at least means the remake is on Capcom’s mind. The Japanese developer has been teasing RE remakes lately with the most recent entry, Resident Evil 4 coming next year.

However, many fans have argued that Resident Evil Code: Veronica should have been given the remake treatment before RE4. To be fair, the fans have very valid points.

As of now, Capcom has released remakes of the original Resident Evil, resident evil 2 as much as Resident Evil 3 with the new version of RE4 arriving on March 24, 2023.

Resident Evil Code: Veronica’s remake makes sense

The next chronological mainline release after RE3 is Code: Veronica. So, it left fans baffled that Code: Veronica, starring Claire and Chris Redfield, was skipped entirely. Not to mention that CV was released four years before Resident Evil 4.

Also, to this day, the original Resident Evil 4 still plays beautifully, so it’s probably still getting ports. The most recent of these was Resident Evil 4 VR for Meta Quest 2. Also, Code: Veronica is the latest traditional RE game with its old school tank controls.

As a result, while I’m still a fan of tank controls, it can be argued that RECV hasn’t aged as well as RE4. Again, this is another factor as to why fans really want to see this game redone.

    Please Capcom, make it happen!

Capcom has not officially announced its post-RE4 remake plans. However, it is likely that we will get a follow-up of Resident Evil Village. That said, we’ll keep our fingers crossed that Code: Veronica gets the remake it deserves.

While we wait for Capcom to officially remake RECV, we may also see the fan remake of Resident Evil Code: Veronica until that day comes. I wish.

In related news, the latest Resident Evil Showcase took place last week and we were treated to a glorious RE4 remake game. Oh, and Resident Evil Re:Verse is finally releasing this week!

Additionally, this week will see the release of the Winters Expansion for RE Village. Winters Expansion will also be released as a bundle in Resident Evil Village: Gold Edition.
