Black Adam’s main DC Extended Universe cameo almost appeared in the Faceless movie, just like when he appeared in 2017’s Shazam.
The following contains spoilers for Black Adam, which is now showing in theaters.
After an extended absence from the DCEU, the Man of Steel himself returned to the superhero franchise in the recently released Warner Bros. Discovery film. black adam, which brought back actor Henry Cavill as Superman. However, Cavill’s face was hardly attached to the paper. In fact, there was no face.
As reported by the hollywood reporter, the addition of the film’s highly anticipated post-credits scene was last minute, with no guarantee that Cavill would make an appearance. Actor Dwayne Johnson filmed the part of him and a body double was used for Superman, accompanied by a version of the iconic John Williams. Superman theme song. The original version of the scene only showed the Man of Steel’s emblem and not his face.
Put Henry Cavill in the suit
Filming took place during additional photography, with director Jaume Collet-Serra telling cinematographer Lawrence Sher, “Let’s quickly take this throne room set that we were working on… We’re going to create something for Dwayne to between… and us”. I’ll shoot it in about 10 minutes.” Sher continued, “Seeing an actor come out of a full silhouette on that, it actually gave me goosebumps. ‘Wow, this is going to work 100 percent. Now they need to figure out if they can get the guy with the head there.'”
Still, there were several obstacles between Cavill and the suit. The biggest was former DC Films president Walter Hamada, who shot down the idea of Cavill appearing in black adam, supposedly because he had other plans for the character. Star and producer Dwayne Johnson resolved that by appealing to Warner Bros. Pictures co-CEOs Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy, who approved it. The post-credits scene was shot a month before the film’s release and in London, where Cavill was working on a separate project, with Sher completing the work remotely.
However, even before the scene was filmed, Johnson has been open about provoking a battle between Teth-Adam and Superman. Producer Hiram Garcia even teased a multi-movie rivalry, which extends beyond a single fight. “They’re going to clash at some point, but it’s not just a ‘one fight’ situation. That was never our dream. That doesn’t reward the fans. The fans want to feel a journey between these guys knowing that these guys exist in the same universe,” Garcia explained previously.
