Minecraft is still perhaps the most popular game in the world, and is definitely the most modded. There’s hundreds upon thousands of mods, and barely enough time to sift through them all. That’s where modpacks come in. And here’s our picks for the best around!

    FTB Unstable 1.20

1.20 is still a recent update, so mod developers and modpack compilers haven’t managed to get everything together. Still, if you’re looking for that modded Minecraft goodness, you could do worse than FTB Unstable 1.20. This update takes all the mods that should work in 1.20 and lets them rip. Don’t be surprised if Unstable lives up to its name though, it takes months for mods to be developed!

    RL Craft

For a “real life” mod, there sure are a lot of dragons in this one… We joke, but RL Craft’s reality mainly comes from its brutal survival mechanics that require you to manage hunger, temperature, and more. We love the additional monsters, and the genuine feel of power you get as you progress in this classic modpack!

    Pixelmon Pack

It’s Pokémon in Minecraft, what else is there to say? Pixelmon is probably the most famous and popular mod for Minecraft ever made and this modpack makes it easy to play. With all the graphical enhancements, additional models, and other quality of life changes needed to make the mod run well, this pack is an essential choice.

    SkyFactory 4

As if Skyblock isn’t challenging enough, how about building and automating a factory up there! As avid players of HyPixel Skyblock, modded versions of Skyblock scratch an itch that it’s hard to reach. With SkyFactory 4, resource gathering is more intuitive and the prestige system allows you to unlock new items through an RPG progression system.

    Roguelike Adventure and Dungeons 2

The original Roguelike Adventures and Dungeons was one of the most popular modpacks of all time, bringing a unique RPG experience to the game. But the one flaw was that it was stuck in older versions of the game, locking players in version 1.13. This update brings that a leap forward to 1.16, so not quite in-line with the modern game, but still a huge step forward!

    Better MC

Better MC does exactly what it says on the tin. It adds more bosses, more weapons, more enchantments, and makes the vanilla Minecraft experience just “better.” We love the sense of progression in this one. Traditional Minecraft progression can feel gated as you hit the End and have nowhere else to go. Better MC solves that problem!

    Vault Hunters 3rd Edition

Vault Hunters is one of the all time classic modpacks, and it’s most-recent version for 1.18 continues the vision. A RPG-focused modpack, you have to build your skills ready to explore the mysterious Vault dimension, collecting artifacts and gearing up for the final challenge. A fantastic RPG experience!

    All The Mods 9 (ATM9)

In this updated for 1.20 modpack, you can experience both the new content of the Trails & Tails 1.20 update and practically more mods than you’ll ever be able to master in one lifetime. There’s so much going on in ATM9, from automated building and gathering, to spells, to new weapons, to new creatures, you’ll barely remember to collect the new armor trims!

    FTB Presents Direwolf20

It’s hard to beat Feed The Beast modpacks: They’re just simply the best around. But the best of the best is the Direwolf packs, and version 20 is no different. A 1.19 compatible mod pack, Direwolf20 adds dozens of new mods that add new biomes, new customization, and new features for this expansive addition to Minecraft.

    FTB Skies

Skyblock, the Aether, and even just floating island generation in Minecraft has created a mythology around the sky in the game. FTB Skies builds on that mythology to create a unique modpack that fills the skies with life. Explore dangerous new biomes, and watch your step in this aerial adventure mod pack!

    Dawncraft

It might be cliché to call a modpack like this Dark Souls meets Minecraft, but that’s exactly what Dawncraft feels like. With dodge-rolling, a huge quest line and custom quests, and hundreds of new animals and monsters, this is a full transformation of Minecraft into something completely new and different. It’s dark feel, unique combat, and punishing challenges have to be experienced!
