Wyll is a Human Warlock in Baldur’s Gate 3 that can be a powerful origin character or helpful as a companion. If you select Wyll as an origin character, there are a number of choices you can make to create a great build for him. Wyll has the Fiend Warlock subclass, so you will want to focus on offensive and defensive spells for him to have the most impact. Here is how to get started with a Wyll build in Baldur’s Gate 3.
When creating your Wyll origin character, you will already have The Fiend subclass, but you can choose your starting cantrips and 1st-level spells. For the best build for Wyll, you will want to focus on the Eldritch Blast cantrip. The other cantrip can be used for utility, so Mage Hand is the most useful one to have. You will also have to set your ability scores, and here are the best scores for Wyll:
- Strength: 8
- Dexterity: 14
- Constitution: 14
- Intelligence: 12
- Wisdom: 10
- Charisma: 17

As a Warlock, you only start with one first-level spell slot, so the spells you take should be used to buff yourself or your attacks. Armour of Agathys and Hex are two great spells to take. Once you reach level two, you can choose Eldritch Invocations, which can boost your class skills or affect your Eldritch Blast. Here are the spells and Eldritch Invocations you will want for the Wyll build:
Wyll Build Spells
Level | Spells |
Cantrips | Eldritch Blast, Mage Hand |
1 | Armour of Agathys, Hex |
2 | Misty Step or Blindness |
3 | Counterspell |
Eldritch Invocations | Agonizing Blast, Repelling Blast, One With Shadows, Armor of Shadows, or Beguiling Influence |
Agonizing Blast and Repelling Blast will help improve your Eldritch Blast, while One With Shadows will be extremely useful for stealth and gaining the upper hand on enemies. Armor of Shadows can be useful by increasing your AC, which combined with Wyll’s other features, can keep him in the fight. Beguiling Influence is also a great Invocation, as you gain proficiency with Deception and Perusaian, which help with checks, relationships, and conversations.
