The summer months have been lined with a lot of big game releases, and now many people are wondering if Diablo 4 or Baldur’s Gate 3 should get their time. It’s a tough question to answer.
Diablo 4 or Baldur’s Gate 3?
Judging strictly by screenshots, you might think the two games play similarly. However, that’s not the case at all. Diablo 4 is an action RPG where you’ll be going place to place annihilating enemies. Baldur’s Gate 3 is a much slower game in comparison, and it’s largely driven by its story and interaction with characters. Unlike Diablo’s real time frantic combat, Baldur’s Gate is much more strategic as placement of your party matters and it’s turn based.

Diablo 4 does have a solid story, but it’s nowhere near the level of Baldur’s Gate 3, and it’s not really expected to be. Diablo pulls ahead in its moment to moment gameplay and extensive endgame builds.
What should you play?

Ultimately, it’s going to come down to personal preference on what to play. The two games, despite the similar looks, couldn’t really be any more different from each other. If you want to turn your brain off and just play a game, Diablo 4 gets the edge. If you want to get immersed in a story and exhaust numerous romance options, Baldur’s Gate 3 is perfect for you.
At the end of the day, both games are going to have their fans. There’s even a good chance you will like both of them yourself. Choosing one over the other is a difficult choice, and if you willing to spend a bit of cash on both of them you won’t even have to worry. It’s worth noting that Baldur’s Gate 3 is a single player game that will still be there years from now. Diablo 4 is a constantly updating live service where it’s easy to feel left behind if you’re not playing it all the time.
