Despite releasing only a few months ago, reports surrounding Apples successor to the Apple Watch Ultra begin to appear.

According to Haitong Intl Tech Research analyst Jeff Pu (via 9to5Mac), Apple will add Micro LED technology to the 2nd-generation Apple Watch Ultra with a larger 2.1-inch display, a minimal upgrade from the current 1.93-inch screen. Apple is likely to cut the Apple Watch Ultras size so that it can fit the larger screen, rather than make it larger.

For those unaware of the technology, micro LEDs can achieve a higher brightness and better colour accuracy. Apple is likely to test Micro-LED display tech with the Ultra, before bringing it to other devices in its lineup, such as the MacBook or the iPad Pro.

Pu says that Apple Watch will likely fall in 2023 due to the wearables being very similar to their 2022 counterparts.

The jump from the series 7 to the series 8 is not easy, with a body temperature sensor and a crash detection being the only notable new hardware features. There were no rumours about the Apple Watch Series 9 yet.
