Apex Legends underwent a lot of changes in 2022, including seasonal metachanges, the addition of four new legends, a ton of collectible events, and a new map. While the year was packed with content, no new weapons were added in 2022 and Season 15 featured minimal changes to Legends. The latest Apex Legends leaks indicate that 2023 may feature some interesting meta changes and new content. This information is based on leaks and should be taken with a grain of salt.

    Apex Legends Characters

A massive leak in 2022 revealed nine Apex Legends characters, including Newcastle, Vantage, and Catalyst. While the character leaks so far have been true, the names and abilities have been subject to change. A fair number of characters will likely have different names and abilities if they are released. These leaks have not been officially confirmed and are subject to change. Here are the leaked characters and their abilities.

    Conduit (empathic shield)

Conduit appears to be a shield-focused healing legend, capable of healing allies when approached and transferring shields.

    • Passive: Capacitance — Conduit regenerates shields over time and gains additional regeneration for each nearby ally.
    • Tactic: Arc Flash — Heals the allied shield at the cost of some of their own.
    • Ultimate: alternating current — Conduit drops a cluster bomb that does area damage. Conduit and allies are healed based on damage dealt.

    Scryer (Haunting Stalker)

Scryer appears to be a Recon Legend with the unique ability to see through the enemy’s perspective. Scyer’s leaked ult looks very similar to Catalyst’s, so it may be different if they’re cast.

    • Passive: Spectator — Automatically Optic-Haunt and spot your killer.
    • Tactic: Optic-Haunt — Deploys a parasite trap that reveals the target’s vision.
    • Ultimate: Wall of Shadows — Unleashes a wall of darkness that blocks view and binds enemies.

    Ballistics (Apex Arms Dealer)

Ballistics is an offensive legend capable of carrying three weapons and can weaken enemy weapons. Leaks point to Ballistic as the Legend for Season 16, but it hasn’t been confirmed and is subject to change.

    • Passive: Weapon Sling — Ballistics can carry a third weapon that can be accessed in the inventory. The sling weapon cannot carry accessories.
    • Tactic: smart bullet Fires a projectile that weakens enemy weapons, causing them to overheat, causing a reaction and dealing damage.
    • Ultimate: Weapon Enhancer Ballistic’s Ultimate buffs nearby teammates with faster reloads, increased unarmed movement speed, and infinite ammo. Ballistic will also equip and upgrade your third weapon, making it a fully equipped gold weapon.

    Jester (deceitful trapper)

Jester appears to be a skirmish legend capable of jumping in and out of fights quickly, fooling opponents, and trapping enemies with mines and wraiths.

    • Passive: Reconnect — Turns any grenade into a proximity mine that can stick to most surfaces.
    • Tactic: Specter Drop — Calls upon a blob that deploys three Specters to protect an area. Only three Specters can be deployed at a time.
    • Ultimate: Layer Field — Creates a cloaking device that hides all players in a small area, with a duration of six seconds.

    Ghost (Agile Assassin)

Phantom appears to be a mobile legend with a seemingly powerful move set. Phantom can maneuver quickly and can briefly take an enemy out of the fight.

    • Passive: Double Jump — Phantom can double jump by pressing the jump button while in the air.
    • Tactical: Hook Shot — It clips onto a wall and can be hung for a short time.
    • Ultimate: empty grenade –— Throws a void grenade that sends players into the void for a short time.

    Uplink (Salvador Satellite)

Uplink seems to be a support legend that can heal allies and protect them from being knocked back within range.

    • Passive: Red Communion — Gain 25% recovery effects within signal range.
    • Tactic: Satellite Shield — Release a satellite that can track allies, heal and even revive them.
    • Ultimate: Immortality Relay Beacon — Deploys a satellite beacon that prevents allies in the signal area from being knocked down.

It is possible that these characters will be seen in 2023, however, since there are expected to be four seasons in the year, some of them will not be released in 2023, if anything. While previous character leaks were pretty accurate, some or all of the characters listed may not be released.

    Apex Legends Weapons

Various weapons have been leaked, either from the game files or seen in gameplay trailers or previews. It’s been a few seasons without new weapons and minimal changes, so hopefully 2023 introduces new weapons to change the meta. These weapon leaks are subject to change and may not be published. Here’s everything we know about the leaked weapons in Apex Legends.

    Scorpion (crossbow)

The Scorpion is a crossbow that can be switched between automatic and single shot. Single shot mode consumes a full magazine, but fires a single projectile that can stick to surfaces and explode.

    Maelstrom (light machine gun)

The Maelstrom is a light machine gun that has the unique ability to gain five ammunition with each kill. The Maelstrom sits within a class of weapons that is already pretty packed, so it may be changed before release or not at all.

    Gemini (energy weapon)

The Gemini is a Power SMG that has unique locking abilities. It cannot contain power chargers, however it can be paired with another Gemini for faster holster and change times. You can also refill ammo for the stored Gemini by dealing damage with the Gemini equipped.

    AAGL Softball (Grenade Launcher)

The Softball is a grenade launcher from Titanfall 2 that can deal additional damage to shields. Softball currently has voice lines in Apex Legends and has been seen in a playtest. The grenade launcher could drastically change the meta, so it’s possible that it’s reserved for game modes like Arenas or the rumored team deathmatch mode.

    Zealot (Guns)

The Fanatic is a pistol that uses energy ammunition and can be dual-wielded. It can also be charged up like the 30-30 to do more damage. The pistols were included in the Season 9 Genesis Collection event development stream, so we may see them in-game in future seasons.

    Nemesis (assault rifle)

The Nemesis is an energy rifle that fires four bursts. The Nemesis can also charge a bar, which then switches the weapon to automatic. Leaks indicate that Nemesis is the Season 16 weapon, but that may be subject to change.

    Game Changes

One of the major gameplay change leaks is an overhaul to the class system. According to the leaks, new classes will be added along with perks and changes to existing classes. The Skirmisher and Defense classes are said to be the new classes. It is rumored that Mirage and Pathfinder will undergo modifications with these class changes. The class rework would allow Legends to be more in tune with their classes, especially with a rapidly growing roster.

Again, leaks are subject to change and can be very different if the content is released. As Apex Legends moves into 2023, expect even more changes, with seasonal events, new Battle Passes, and more. Many of these leaks have been shared by industry insider Thordan Smash, so thank you.
